Categories include: Small firm/Project, Buildings, Environmental, Municipal Infrastructure and Water Resources, Natural Resources and Energy Production, Studies and Soft Engineering, Transportation, Project Management, and Geotechnical Engineering and Geohazards.

The Brian Eckel Pinnacle Award is awarded to the highest-scoring project submission! In this case: Thurber's submission!

About our submission

Saskatchewan's river valleys are prone to landslides. These landslides often affect roadways which can be dangerous to motorists and can often result in road closures. Active since 2005, the Hwy 369 landslide had recently forced the closure of the highway. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways engaged us to provide the landslide assessment, remedial design, and construction contract administration to stabilize the landslide and repair the road. Our design used cast-in-place pile walls to address key concerns including long-term performance, landslide risk, ease of construction, cost, and schedule. This was a first for Saskatchewan and has shown that cast-in-place pile walls are a viable and effective option for future landslide remediation in the province.
