Site Remediation Services Former Sour Gas Plant
The former Westlock East Sour Gas Plant was a sour gas gathering and processing facility constructed in 1976. The plant was shut down in 2016. Historical assessments including soil and groundwater monitoring and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments identified 11 areas of potential environmental concern. Contaminants of concern in the soil included petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, amines, and salinity. In 2019, Thurber conducted site remediation activities including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, a remediation action plan, and an environmental risk management plan. Thurber was responsible for all project management related to the remediation.
