An in-house designed remedation system recovers groundwater contaminants.

When our Alberta-based client needed to remediate an environmental spill, they engaged Thurber to delineate the contaminated area, model the groundwater, and provide remediation options. Because the site is remote and located adjacent to private land used for cattle grazing, our client needed an efficient and easy to monitor plan to restore the conditions to acceptable criteria.

Thurber's solution involved a groundwater recovery system that is designed, fabricated, and installed in-house. In its first season in operation, the system recovered 100 m3 of fluid to reduce contaminant migration.

Our client can monitor data and modify pumping operations remotely, thereby reducing the number of site visits. The system is able to notify the team when fluid storage cacpacities are reached.
