Relocating high-pressure natural gas pipelines in urban environments

ATCO's Urban Pipeline Replacement Project replaced and relocated high-pressure natural gas pipelines from densely populated areas in Calgary and Edmonton into Transportation Utility Corridors.

Thurber supported ATCO in these pipeline relocations in multiple areas in Edmonton and Calgary. We provided:

• Pipeline route condition assessment and route optimization
• Assessed the possibility of trenchless and horizontal auger bore crossings
• Provided terrain assessments (desktop and field)
• Geotechnical assessments
• Geohazard assessments

These pipeline crossings involved crossing major roadways, streams, and railways.
