Overview
Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Technician to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.
Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine and environmental services.
Responsibilities
As our Desktop Support Technician, you will work as part of our national Information Technologies Team to support the software and hardware needs of our Calgary branch under the direction of our Corporate IT Manager and working closely with our Calgary management team.
More specifically your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the primary contact for End User support;
- Providing patch and update management of the various software packages used, such as Windows, antivirus software;
- Performing workstation performance management, including setups, upgrades, and managing trouble tickets;
- Managing and maintaining the phone system (Telus Business Connect);
- Managing and maintaining cellular phones, including upgrades and device changes;
- Assisting in the Management of loaner equipment inventory and assisting with setup or downloading data from returned devices (GPS, Cameras, Mobile WiFi sticks, Software keys, etc.);
- Participate in the acquisition of required hardware and software resources for both offices; and,
- Pick up and drop off IT equipment and supplies to and from suppliers.
Qualifications and Assets
- In order to qualify for this role, you will have at least two (2) years of relevant experience in providing desktop support, or similar services, along with graduate degree or diploma in a related field.
- As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with excellent communication skills. Your strong interpersonal skills will combine with your technical knowledge and experience to ensure your success as you support our operations in a desktop support capacity.
- Finally, you will also hold a class 5 Driver’s License.
