Overview
Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Project Administrator to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.
Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine and environmental services.
The Project Administrator is expected to evolve as the full scope of responsibilities are identified. The position will be to primarily support Thurber’s EGP project and is responsible for assisting in the coordination of project activities, schedule management, and document control. The position works closely with the Project Manager and project team, therefore strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. Depending upon skills and ability, project administrative support may be extended to other projects.
Responsibilities
- Document control, utilizing processes and systems to ensure documents are reviewed and processed accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate and keep the lines of communication open within team
- Maintain project-specific physical, and digital, filing systems
- Collect and vet daily timesheets, resolving timesheet discrepancies with Project Manager
- Track project and employee/sub-contractor work rotations
- Compile and prepare job progress summaries
- Book and update field travel and accommodations for project work
- Manage field equipment administration (i.e. GPS devices, etc.)
- Assist with, or draft documents, including formatting and proofing documents created by other team members, prepare final document, copy and distribute as advised by Project Manager
- Book project meetings, prepare agendas, attend as required and prepare meeting minutes
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Assets
- 5-10 years proven work experience as a Construction Project Administrator is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; intermediate level Outlook, Word, Excel & Teams
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail is required
- Adaptable to change and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with BST 10 and with marketing and proposals would be an asset.
