Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet and Equipment Coordinator to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta.
Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine and environmental services.
As our Fleet and Equipment Coordinator, you will support our field and laboratory team in the coordination of fleet vehicles and services, and in equipment maintenance and coordination.
Responsibilities
- Works with the Construction Services Coordinator to assess and address equipment needs;
- Coordinates the calibration, maintenance and replacement of field and lab equipment in consultation with the Field and Laboratory Supervisors and the Branch Manager;
- Maintains equipment calibration and maintenance records;
- Maintains an accurate inventory of field and lab equipment;
- Tracks and mitigates costs associated with equipment purchases, maintenance and repair, and replacement;
- Maintains adequate stock of consumable field and lab supplies, including PPE and spare/replacement parts for equipment (i.e. spare O-rings for air-meters, etc.);
- Coordinates the distribution and tracking of specialized, or high value equipment to field and lab staff;
- Reports theft, damage, malfunctions, and abuse of equipment to the Field and/or Laboratory Supervisor and the Branch Manager;
- Coordinates the acquisition and return of fleet vehicles from, and to, rental companies and dealerships in consultation with the Field and Laboratory Supervisors and the Branch Manager;
- Coordinates the distribution of fleet vehicles to staff;
- Maintains a fleet database of company vehicles and the drivers assigned to each vehicle;
- Conducts pre and post assignment inspections of vehicles and documents damage and wear;
- Maintains valid insurance, registration and other pertinent documents for all fleet vehicles;
- Coordinates routine maintenance and non-routine repairs to fleet vehicles;
- Maintains detailed maintenance and repair records for fleet vehicles;
- Ensures fleet vehicles are outfitted to company standard, including: GPS; fire extinguishers; truck binders; etc.;
- Fields vehicle and equipment requests and sources irregular equipment and/or vehicles where appropriate;
- Provides training on fleet processes and expectations to new and to returning employees;
- Reviews and Monitors fleet GPS readings on usage and alerts, reporting deviant behavior to the Branch Manager and Field Supervisor;
- Reports theft, damage, malfunctions, and abuse of fleet vehicles and equipment to the Field Supervisor and Branch Manager;
- Participates in, and advocates company health and safety practices; and,
- Performs some data entry, filing and general office duties as required.
Qualifications and Assets
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience;
- Class 5 driver’s license;
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledgeable in vehicle maintenance requirements and practices;
- Experience using basic hand tools, measuring and calibration of tools and equipment;
- Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel;
- Strong customer service-oriented demeanor; and,
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Base Salary Range
- $60,000 - $65,000 per year, based on a 40-hour work week.
- The posted wage range for this position represents the range for the experience and qualifications noted in this posting.
- The offered wage may be adjusted upward for candidates whose qualifications and experience exceed those expressed in this posting.
- Candidates with less experience and qualifications may be considered at a reduced starting wage.
